Tyler Perry has been making the rounds for his latest opus to mediocrity, Madea’s Witness Protection. Interestingly, when he sat down with Black Film he was ready to talk about more than just his latest work. He also wanted to discuss how disappointing Prometheus was:
Tyler Perry: I love Sci Fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies. I’m actually working on a sci-fi movie right now.
Black Film: Can you tell us a little bit about that?
Tyler Perry: No but I’m writing a sci-fi movie that I’m really excited about.
This wouldn’t be Perry’s first time in the science fiction fold. Some of you might remember that he also played the head of Starfleet Academy in 2009’s Star Trek. So… that’s something.
With this new sci-fi project, Perry turns his back on a missed opportunity. Madea’s Witness Protection is rife for Avengers-style movie mashup glory. The people don’t want sci-fi, they want Madea and Larry the Cable guy teaming up for Larry & Madea’s Witless Protection. Because if those two can’t protect us from an endless barrage of witlessness, really, who can?
