So Ghost Rider brings in a pretty hefty opening weekend, drops off about 60% and not one of four new releases can catch it. Counter-intuitively, that’s not a slow weekend– it’s a strong one, as Box Office revenues are up again this week (following last week’s strong set) over the same time last year.

Still, a couple releases did fit into the top five, with Jim Carrey’s decency-sodomizer The Number 23 taking the two spot (which sent Bridge to Terabithia swinging to number three) and Reno 911!: Miami landing at number four. Norbit rounded out the top five this week.

The Astronaut Farmer received the Ursa/Non/Zod treatment and was apparently crushed and thrown into outer space, debuting at number nine (Hey family film advocates- if you want more family films, you need to go SEE them). Hymnal biography/slave trade drama Amazing Grace came out of nowhere to debut at number 10, while The Abandoned lived up to its title somewhere out around number 17.

This Friday titillates your cinematic libido with Black Snake Moan, Wild Hogs and Zodiac. In all three counts, you’ll need to hide the children.
