Yeesh, Carell looks like he’s as tired and bored of his downtrodden stock character as we all are.

This is a trailer for Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, which looks like the typical high-concept, wry indie film with a smear of Hollywood gloss. It’s about the three weeks before a massive asteroid collides with Earth, and a man’s ensuing struggle to fall in love with his co-lead while they’re supposedly searching for a different love of his life, back-dropped by all the episodic social apocalypse humor you’d expect.

Last year I checked out the film Last Night based on a tweeted recommendation from Edgar Wright, and while I didn’t flip for the film, it’s an interesting indie film to which Seeking clearly owes some debt. That said, the “last days on earth” premise isn’t all that hard to come by.

I like Patton Oswalt’s few moments in the film, and it’s probably good for Keira Knightly to lighten up, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to muster more energy to see this than Carell did to act in it.
