wanted to take this opportunity to talk to you about a movie that we have been ignoring on, The Fountain. Regular readers of this site probably have no idea that it’s the new film from Darren Aronofsky, and that it opens next Wednesday.

OK, so maybe I have mentioned it once or twice on this site. And I may have called it the best film of the year. And maybe I said that it’s one of the best films I have seen in a decade. But that’s just all because it’s true – The Fountain is a touching love story and a scifi head trip all in one package.

Over the next few days Russ and I will be running our interviews with Aronofsky and stars Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman, and I want to kick off a week of The Fountain fun with a terrific giveaway. These prizes are pretty incredible, by the way. We’re giving away:

5 “Tree of Life” Mini Snow Globes

1 8” Dagger Letter Opener (only 100 of these were made, so this is an incredibly rare item!)

1 6” Brass Hourglass

1 Darren Aronofsky Autographed Poster

We’re going to have eight winners – one item to each winner, randomly chosen – except for the dagger. How do you win? Do the following:

Answer one of the following questions. If you want to win the dagger, you have to answer all of them.

1) The Fountain fell apart when Brad Pitt pulled out of it. Darren Aronofsky spent years getting it back together. Not all movies are that lucky – some just fall apart, and some get hacked to death by the studio. What lost movie, or lost cut of a movie, would you most like to see?
2) Darren Aronofsky turned the original script for The Fountain into a Vertigo/DC graphic novel. What non-superhero, non-action movie do you think would make a great graphic novel?
3) Darren Aronofsky has been attached in the past to a Batman: Year One movie and a Lone Wolf and Cub movie, as well as a Ronin movie. Besides those, what comic book do you think would make a great Aronofsky film? Why?
4) It’s opening day of The Fountain. You’re trying to talk your friend into going to see the movie – what do you say?
