Woo-haa, it’s Golden Globe nominations day. And it’s a good day for The Artist, with six overall nods to lead the pack, and The Descendants and The Help, with five nominations each.  The Best Actor, Drama category is a bit more mainstream than the SAG Awards noms.  Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender got acknowledgement, when they were both shut out of the SAG noms yesterday, after both actors having monster years.  Gosling also picked up a nod in the Comedy category for Best Actor.  For the ladies, the Best Actress, Drama field looks like the SAG list, with only Rooney Mara being subbed in for Michelle Williams, who, nonetheless, is on the Best Actress, Comedy list.

On the TV side, Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family, The Hour and Homeland have all raked in three nominations.  And along with Homeland, two other newcomers, American Horror Story and Game of Thrones have picked up nominations for Best Drama, the latter of which I’m sure will make many of you happy. Surprisingly, in the Best Actor, Comedy field, The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki got the nod over castmate former winner, Jim Parsons.  That’s not going to make Sheldon very happy…
