An A-budget adaptation of the classic 80’s show The Equalizer has been in the works for awhile now.  Last year saw Russell Crowe and Paul Haggis step up to the plate and try their hand at getting it off the ground.  Not much has been mentioned about the project since.  Crowe has prattled on throughout that year about the various projects he’s apart of (Superman, The Man With The Iron Fist, Broken City, etc.) and the ones he wants to get made (Dirt Music, Bra Boys, Master & Commander 2)…….but never bothered to mention The Equalizer.  That’s probably because he isn’t attached anymore and neither is Paul Haggis, from what I can tell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Denzel Washington and producer Alex Siskind are now shepherding the property.  No timeline has been given as to when it will get made.  Considering the fact that Denzel doesn’t tend to schedule projects years in advance like many A-listers, I suspect it will happen sooner rather than later if he really wants to do it.  There is no director attached at this time, but I think we all know his buddy Tony will likely get the first offer.
