As Nick already reported, Michael “Giant Robot Decapitator” Bay is looking to leave the robots behind for his next outing. His “passion project”, Pain & Gain, is finally gearing up for production and Dwayne Johnson is currently in talks to take one of the two lead roles.  Apparently Mark Wahlberg was interested in the other part, but that deal seems to have gone the way of the dodo.

The project follows two body builders who get involved in a kidnapping and an extortion ring.  Things don’t pan out to well.  You know; the usual.  This 20 million dollar true crime film is said to have a darkly comic tone and has been compared by those involved to Fargo.  Take from that what you will, especially with Bay at the helm.  Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America) are the current writers on the project, which has apparently been in development for the better part of a decade.

It seems that Michael “Screw undressing, I RAPE actresses with my camera eyes” Bay is going to try to make his own Coen Brothers piece before inevitably dipping his toes back into the ever-deepening Hollywood sequel pool*.  Thoughts?

* – He is already backtracking on his “I’m done with Transformers” stance, so don’t be surprised if he follows this up with a LaBeouf-less Transformers sequel or two.  Doubly so, considering Spielberg is publicly up his ass about coming back for another Optimus-fueled decapitation rampage.  In addition to those, Bad Boys III is still slowly inching its way towards the silver screen.  Looks like the Teal & Orange brigade have plenty to look forward to over the next decade.
