http://chud.com/nextraimages/borat.jpgWhen I put my name on the print ads for Talladega Nights with the quote “Funniest Movie of the Year!,” I knew I was taking a calculated risk. There was one movie I hadn’t seen yet that stood a good chance of actually competing for that title. That movie is Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Well, if Borat is funnier than Talladega Nights at least I attached my name to A Sacha Baron Cohen film.

The movie hits theaters in November, although it’s been screening around – I missed a screening at Comic Con because I wanted to get loaded. David Poland’s been crowing about how funny the film is for some time, and I’m sure we’ll hear more about it after it plays at the Toronto Film Festival. In the meantime the rest of us have to settle for the clips and trailers that are getting out online.

The new international trailer isn’t that much different from the domestic one – the Kazakhstan footage is made to look scratchy and old, and there’s a great joke about gypsies added in where there used to be a bit about “not jokes.” The gypsy thing might be the funnier of the two gags, actually.
