A scooper with a cameraphone has sent in these two posters for Black Snake Moan, the new film from Craig Brewer, the director of Hustle & Flow. The trailer was supposedly attached to Snakes on a Plane last night, but the only thing I have heard from those screenings was how great the movie was due to being very drunk. Good work, guys.

Black Snake Moan has been moved from its original September 15th release to February, partially because it wants to not be the second Samuel L Jackson snake-titled movie released in 30 days. "Sam is going to be very taxed after ‘Snakes on a Plane,’ and the press is going to be very taxed on him,” Craig Brewer told Memphis’ Commercial Appeal "So instead of fighting for screen time and press attention so close to ‘Snakes on a Plane,’ we’re using that time to promote ‘Black Snake Moan.’” One of those promotions will be screening the movie out of competition at Sundance; the festival reportedly is psyched to show the movie.

It’s going to be a hell of a movie – Jackson is a “God-fearing bluesman named Lazarus who takes extreme measures to help a sexually promiscuous young white girl (Christina Ricci) conquer her demons.” He does this by chaining her to a radiator (!).

The posters for this movie are fucking AWESOME. I liked the Grindhouse posters, but for pure retro appeal, I feel like these kick their asses. These posters are like the lurid covers of pulp paperbacks, and I have a feeling I will have to own at least one of these. So excellent.
