It’s not that often that you go to the movies and feel the magic of special effects. Most films have CGI effects that feel completely CGI – not so with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. People have no idea that Davey Jones doesn’t have a bit of make-up on him – Bill Nighy is completely covered in pixels! The same goes for his crew, a motley collection of sea-based monsters that make me almost want to visit a toy store. They’re all CGI as well, and Disney has hooked us up with these photo progressions which give you a quick peek behind the scenes, showing the actor underneath the digital wizardry, the concept art and the finished product. I imagine the DVD will feature something like this, but in a very fleshed out way. Enjoy!
