Now here’s a surprise: a Robin Williams comedy is a more enticing option than a depiction of national tragedy. But the numbers don’t lie, and RV pulled into the top spot while United 93 landed in second, just a few feet ahead of those terrifically tight high school gymnasts of Stick It.

The performance of The Sentinel might’ve actually been better if it was a feature version of Richard Burgi’s TV show than a Michael Douglas comeback vehicle. Meanwhile, Disney is wondering why their CGI creatures aren’t as good as prehistoric beasts, or the spelling insects of Akeelah and the Bee, for that matter.

Next weekend kicks off summer proper with Mission: Impossible 3, while sloppy seconds and thirds go to the spooker An American Haunting and the eco-comedy Hoot.
