Give the people who cut the trailers and TV ads for X3 an Oscar right now. I know too much about what has been going on behind the scenes of this film to hold a reasonable hope for it (I do hold an unreasonable one, however), but the trailers – and now the three new TV ads – make me excited when I see them.

You know, I’m going to hold on to my unreasonable hope in these last few weeks. I am going to choose to believe that the cast and crew rose to the challenge and overcame the incredible obstacle that is Brett Ratner. Maybe X3 is the beginning of the anti-auteur theory, the collectivist film theory.
