Will Smith never learned his Wild Wild West lesson and is going to once again be getting jiggy with an old-timey TV show transitioning to the movies. This time it’s It Takes A Thief, based on the 1968-1970 series.
The original starred Robert Wagner; this time Smith will be playing the charming thief blackmailed into doing petty larceny in the service of his country. Who wants to bet that when he first gets offered the big job that takes up the third act he says, “Hell naw!”?
I feel like Smith made some real headway with Ali and has spent the years since making trash. The good news is that he starts work this summer on Tonight, He Comes, a darkly comic revisionist superhero movie that could be interesting – if the script isn’t all Will Smith-ed up. Hell naw!
