Few people look as comfortable in a suit of armor as Sean Bean. RelativityMedia knows this, and have just closed a deal with the man for him to play the role of the King in their upcoming (and currently untitled) Snow White film.

Wait- the king? Yeah, he doesn’t have much of a role in the original story but it’s his vain wife that kicks things off. Certainly the inclusion of Bean means that he’s going to be more of a presence here.

The cast is already quite packed, though! Julia Roberts plays the Queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) plays Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) plays Prince Andrew Alcott, Robert Emms (Anonymous) plays Prince Alcott’s valet, Renbock, and Nathan Lane plays the Queen’s servant Brighton, who will also apparently serve as the film’s comic relief. The Seven Dwarfs are being played by Mark Povinelli (Water for Elephants), Jordan Prentice (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Danny Woodburn (Watchmen), Sebastian Saraceno (Bedtime Stories), Ronald Lee Clark (Epic Movie), Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean series) and Joey Gnoffo (The Benchwarmers).

Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell) is directing with  Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter), Bernie Goldmann (300) and Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) producing it up.

The film started shooting last month in Montreal and is set to wrap in mid-September, with a theatrical release planned on March 16th 2012. It was recently moved up from a release of June to beat Universal Pictures’ own Snow White film (Kristen Stewart as Snow White  and Charlize Theron as the evil queen), which is set for June.
