Movies based on videogames. Usually not so hot, right? Brotherhood of the Wolf director Christophe Gans seems hellbent on disproving that with Silent Hill. So far they studio is doing a fine job of generating interest (even though I’m still all a-scared) with a very spooky trailer and some downright disturbing early images, like the exclusive freakshow you see below. I don’t know what that is or if it’s in the movie, but I recommend you click it for a supersize version, which you can then print and hang around your home and/or office to brighten frighten up the place!

Here’s the official synopsis for the flick, which haunts theaters April 21st: The eerie and deserted town of SILENT HILL draws a young mother desperate to find a cure for her only child’s illness.  Unable to accept the doctor’s diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalized for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers – and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean).  After a car accident on the outskirts of Silent Hill, Rose wakes up to find that her daughter has mysteriously disappeared.  It soon becomes clear that this place is unlike anywhere she’s ever been: it’s smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realizes that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.
