Perhaps I should clarify that a bit. They’re on a list of actresses, among others, that Russell is considering for his upcoming The Silver Linings Playbook. The film tells the tale of a man who suffers from a mental collapse and is released from a health facility determined to find the silver linings in his life. Said man will be Russell’s star from The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg. Russell is looking for a high-caliber name to co-star with Wahlberg in the role of a depressed woman who, after her husband dies, goes on a sexual spree, even at the cost of her job. She befriends the man and becomes his love interest.
The actresses Russell is looking at for the role include Elizabeth Banks, Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Andrea Riseborough, Olivia Wilde and perhaps Jennifer Lawrence. He’s reportedly screen testing them all in time for his planned August start date on the project for The Weinstein Co.
