Michelle Trachtenberg will be the biggest name (so far) attached to the Glen Morgan and James Wong remake of Black Christmas. Trachtenberg, a lovely young Ice Princess, is best known for playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s little sister Dawn (made of an extradimensional key and retroactively added into history by a group of monks) in seasons five through seven of Joss Whedon’s cult classic TV show.

Black Christmas was written by Bob Clark, and the 1974 film is one of the prototypes of the slasher film, a genre that all but choked the life out of horror in the 80s. In Black Christmas a killer stalks his way through a bunch of sorority girls, and that’s pretty much all there is to it. Don’t take that as a negative.

The film also stars Katie Cassidy, the daughter of David Cassidy, who seems to be making a career from redoing horror films from the decade when her dad was relevant (sort of relevant, anyway) – she’s also in the upcoming remake of When A Stranger Calls.
