From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA) comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so bad, they’re good” films that inspired them. Move over Roger Corman, step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr. Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here! Each day, your friends at CHUD will bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain or shine, drunk or sober. That’s a whole year of the quality concepts you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and SHARKTOPUS.

And now… DAY ONE-HUNDRED AND SIXTY-THREE:

“And now, for the initial installment of the world’s first monster movie ‘treelogy.’”

“It Grows on You.”

ROOT OF EVIL: When the bodies of a number of missing children are found buried in a field on the outskirts of the small Midwestern town, Potter’s Grove, it doesn’t take long for the police to connect the murders to a local gardener, who kills himself with his pruning sheers before he can betaken into custody.  The town’s long nightmare is finally over, until it’s revealed that the gardener had been fertilizing an ancient oak tree with the blood of the murdered children.  The roots of the tree run deep, reaching across town and emerging only at night while everyone is asleep, corrupting anyone with whom they come into contact.  Before long, the town is once again tearing itself apart as its residents are forced to act out their deepest darkest desires.

Nick Says: A little The Guardian mixed with your everyday slasher flick. The result, a reliable standard and a perfect role for first the face and then the disembodied voice of acting sensation Lorenzo Lamas.
