Now that her luck with TV continues running bad (her sci-fi series Threshold, a show with interesting characters shackled by a generic premise, joins the lamented Karen Sisco on the cancellation heap), tasty treat Carla Gugino is heading back to theaters.

Gugino, who last flaunted her fantastic form in Sin City (thank you, dear), is joining Ben Stiller in the high-concept comedy A Night at the Museum. Stiller plays a security guard at the Museum of Natural History (not the Guggenheim, but I couldn’t pass up the alliteration) who unleashes an ancient curse that transforms the various displays into a rampaging horde of CG-animated beasts. Gugino, who gained experience with mugging males and digitized antics on the Spy Kids movies, will play someone hot.

The movie is directed by Shawn Levy, likely trying to get something going before anyone can see his Pink Panther remake. The script comes from former members of The State turned screenwriters/Reno 911 cops Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon.

Gugino will next be seen fighting Lucy Liu and Michael Chiklis in Sebastian Gutierrez’s vampire flick Rise, the latest horror offering from Sam Raimi’s Ghost House company.
