Deadline is reporting that following Wrath of the Titans, uninspiring leading man Sam Worthington is to take his wobbly accent to The Last Days of American Crime. The flic is an adaptation of the Rick Remender comic, and the screenplay is being written by The Departed‘s William Monahan. In the director’s chair is F. Gary Gray, who’s name I often mistakenly read as F. Gary Gary.

The writing pedigree on this is certainly promising. I am a fan of Remender’s non-superhero work, and though I can’t speak for The Last Days of American Crime, the high-concept premise of a near-future where crime is about to be totally abolished sounds intriguing. Too bad it will be directed by a director that can best be described as “workmanly” and fronted by the most uncharismatic leading man since Barry Bostwick. Still, I’m interested to see how this develops.
