So Kris Kristofferson, Val Kilmer, Dwight Yoakam, Barry Corbin, Brent Briscoe, and W. Earl Brown are in a film together?  I don’t know what the MPAA rated this flick, but the high sodium level’s gotta’ have the FDA worried. That’s a salty cast working a slice of somber Southern Gothic (that Deadwood‘s beloved Brown adapted from William Gay’s 2000 novel Provinces of Night).  The film, directed by Shane Dax Taylor, concerns generations of rakehells and the payment due on lifetimes full of bad choices. Bloodworth‘s trailer seems interested in selling the film as a more “authentic” take on Crazy Heart (note the participation of Heart‘s legendary T-Bone Burnett), but the novel itself seems to be made of darker stuff (Gay’s work has been favorably compared to Cormac McCarthy).  We’ll find out shortly, as the film hits on May 20th.
