In just a few minutes (5:30pm Eastern) a Rise of the Apes behind-the scenes featurette will air across the internet live. Watch it if you have the minutes, otherwise check out our wrap-up, which will exist tomorrow on sister-site GUY.com. We’ll also be featuring an awesome science-related interview, much like we did with Source Code, closer to the film’s release.

WETA Digital, the award winning special effects team behind such films as, “Avatar”, and “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, is the group handling the CGI used in “Rise of the Apes” (also, known as “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”). We would like to invite you to WETA’s livestream event, in which you’ll be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the film. Five time Oscar winner, Joe Letteri, and Dan Lemmon, both of WETA’s effects team, will provide insight as to how the apes were animated, showing that studios no longer need to use real apes during the film making process.
