.***Update***

It’s official, we will partner with these guys for all the cities having the screening, so people in Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Austin, Houston, San Francisco, and Seattle all pip ein with your entries and who knows what may happen? Make sure to specify what city.

Also, I’ve been asked to forward these entries along, so there’s a chance your comments may just find their way into the marketing scheme!

***End of Update***

Way back in the day I made a big splash on this site about my favorite
musician, Mike Patton, making his feature film debut in a little film
called Firecracker.
Three years have passed as Steve Balderson, the film’s director,
writer, producer, production designer, editor honed the thing from
unknown commodity into the film Roger Ebert has heaped lavish praise
upon. These two passages in particular really sold it for me:

"I praise "Firecracker" because it is original and peculiar, but also because it
is haunted; there is an uneasy spirit living within this film that stirs and
regards us with cold, unblinking eyes.
"

and…

"Imagine "In Cold Blood" crossed with "Freaks," with the look of Jodorowsky’s "Santa Sangre"."

You can read his full review HERE.

Steve
Balderson is a cool guy. We’ve communicated a little through this
process and I’ve missed every opportunity to see this film over the
past few months. That will all change in October as Steve conducts a
very unique, very cool, and very exclusive nine city traveling freak
show of a release with his movies.

Nine cities. Nine showings. Then it’s gone.

Something tells me this will be a film you’ll want to see in a theater. Here is the schedule that will unfold over the next three months:

I’ll
be at the Atlanta screening with posters for the first five or six CHUD
readers who come up to me. These are paid screenings. You need to go to
the Landmark Midtown office to buy tickets. Can’t do it online. It
requires a little work, but I think it’s worth it. We need to fill this
theater with nutty, odd, film-loving sons of bitches. This movie is the
kind of which that may weird you out and challenge you, and I know
CHUD.com’s Atlanta readership fits that bill. Let’s have some fun. Who
knows, maybe we’ll hit the Highlander or Dupree’s afterwards and have a
few suds discussing it.

I have two passes to give to serious
Atlanta film fans, so two of you suckers DON’T have to hit the Landmark
box office, and those two will be chosen by the two folks who use THIS LINK
and tell me why something like this is so cool and how many of your
most trusted film accomplices you’re going to bring to this show. As an
aside, if you’re in one of the other cities, do the same and let me
know which city. Who knows if I may get a few passes to those as well?

Folks,
I originally was interested in this film because Mike Patton was in it
but it’s evolved far beyond that. This is a film I think a percentage
of us just might feel a little ownership of, a little secret that the
rest of the world will have to discover on video. Let’s have some fun.
