When you’re a long dead rapper who keeps releasing records that sell well, how can you possibly top yourself? By becoming a screenwriter, of course.
In a move that will surely make thousands of struggling screenwriters flat out apoplectic, Insomnia Media Group has bought a script Tupac Shakur wrote back in 1995. Shakur intended to star in the film, Live 2 Tell, which had a story that was well ahead of its time – a street kid becomes a drug kingpin before turning his life around. In 2005 it is well behind its time, however.
Tupac’s mom, Afeni Shakur, will produce alongside Hustle & Flow’s Preston Holmes. Maybe if the film wins an Oscar the police will finally have a reason to bother solving Tupac’s murder!
