Okay, so the super serious earth-based remake-of-Total–Recall-in-title-only readaptation of Phillip K Dick’s “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale,” probably won’t have any women with three tits prancing about. Even if it did, she surely wouldn’t be a main character. It’s an iconic image in the film geek world though(first row of Google Image results, with no safesearch), even meriting a repeating joke in the recent Paul (the most boring slog of a geek culture circle-jerk since the last Kevin Smith referencefest, btw).
Tit jokes aside, Len Wiseman is looking into the options he has available for casting the major female roles in Total Recall, and many of them are more than lovely enough with standard anatomy. The two available parts are that of Douglas Quaid’s mood-shifting wife Lori, and Melina- who helped Quaid revolt against the evil powers-that-be on Mars. Since the remake is shedding the whole Mars thing, I assume Melina has a slightly different role in Kurt Wimmer’s script.
The shortlist for the available parts is the standard Hollywood collection of actresses, with a few notable options. For Lori, Kate Bosworth is apparently reading, while Diane Kruger has passed despite being lined up originally, and Eva Mendes is under consideration. For the rebel Melina, looks are being given to Paula Patton, Jessica Biel, Eva Green, and Eva Mendes again.
We see most of these names every time one of these lists escapes into the wild, and while I’m no Biel fan, all of them have their strengths and weaknesses (and all of them are more than capable of, *achem,* starting the reactor). It’s hard to say who would fit best in the universe Wiseman is building, since we know so little about it other than its apparent contrast with Verhoeven’s world.
If they’re sticking to the May start date, it shouldn’t be long before we hear more about the project though, and with that should come Wiseman’s final decisions.
