The trailer for what is sure to be on of the bigger movies of the year is here, and it’s kind of a perfect teaser trailer. More of announcement and a promise of things to come than an actual trailer, it makes a few things clear- the important guys are back, the debauchery will be increased, and there will be a small amusing creature. There’s not even a need for a joke, just shove us in and give us glimpse in media res, and America willl fill in the rest with a ticket purchase.

Missing Tooth –> Face Tatoo
Pantsless Zach –> Ironic Dog Shirt Zach
Baby –> Monkey
Fucked Up Vegas Hotel Room –> Disgusting, Seemingly Third-World Hotel Room

It’s everything a teaser to a nearly half-a-billion-worldwide-grossing-comedy has to be, and not a frame more. And frankly, I’m down. The Hangover was an extremely solid comedy that deserved success and received a phenomenon, but if they step it up a deliver as much or more hilariousness, then we’ll have the rare comedy sequel that lives up. Hell, with a more extreme color palette and new location it at least looks like an interesting progression from the last one.

You can check out that roach in High-Res if you wish, over at Apple Trailer (where the monkey is featured heavily). The official synopsis is below (hey Jeffrey Tambor is in it!).

Comedy. In the follow-up to the record-breaking hit comedy “The Hangover,” Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.
