Ridley Scott seems to be taking a page from the playbook of fellow Alien movie helmer James Cameron and submerging himself for a new film.

Scott will dip into the depths for an adaptation of the bestselling true subaquatic adventure tale Shadow Divers, about a pair of divers who discovered a sunken WWII German U-Boat off the coast of New Jersey.  The story focuses on the men’s tenacious, lengthy quest to solve the mystery of the shipwreck’s history, which ultimately takes a toll on their lives and relationships.  Those Nazis – still the villains!

The script is being written by William Broyles (Cast Away), who also adapted the Gulf War chronicle Jarhead for director Sam Mendes.  Scott has orbited a few other projects recently, such as the vineyard novel A Good Year, but lately seems to have focused more on producing and the Crusades.
