I have no clue what the level of awareness is of Garfunkle and Oates outside of the Los Angeles comedy scene, so I am just going to assume you’ve never heard of them.

Garfunkle and Oates are an acoustic music comedy duo comprised of Riki Lindhome (the blond one) and Kate Micucci (the dark-haired one), both of whom should probably be at least vaguely familiar looking from various respective TV acting appearances over the past couple years. G&A are decently popular here in LA, and like their forebears Flight of the Conchords, the duo is known for their fun song subjects and smart lyrics. They have countless videos floating around the web, although I’m not sure how well these play removed from the context of a stage show. Most of the videos are just them sitting on a couch, playing the song live. Like this…

According to Variety, also like Flight of the Conchords, the duo has caught the eye of HBO, who is developing a series based around their G&A personas. No word yet on what the nature of the show will be, though given that their stage shtick is a send up coffee shop female folk performers, I have to assume the series will take the same approach.
