• Pre-Credits Sequence (5 minutes tops) – Quickie Origin that covers the basics. Krypton is about to destroyed, everyone wants to try Jor-El for heresy. Jor-El’s biggest supporters have been sent into the Phantom Zone. Fearing the worst, Jor-El plots a course of a rocket to take his infant son to the next habitable planet. Jor-El and Lara sent their kid away. Krypton dies.
  • Credits Sequence – Update that Donner shit. We don’t need full cast list. Just basic WB LOGO, production bits, as we follow the rocket to Earth.
  • Rocket lands on Earth. Couple in their 40s discovers it. Martha and Jonathan Kent meets young Kal-El. Time passes, as they quickly adopt the kid. Saying it is a distant relative.
  • 25 years later, Clark is in Metropolis. Bypass all the Smallville shit. It’s non-essential except for backstory to have later.
  • Clark’s a young kid fresh out of college and travel overseas. He’s arriving for a basic beat reporter gig at The Daily Planet. The paper is being downsized and a lot of the older gang is being pushed into shit paper work with the younger staffers. Clark meets his new photographer 18 year old Jimmy Olsen.
  • Clark is introduced to the Daily Planet gang (these are the supporting players I want for the new version of the franchise). Sports reporter Steve Lombard, Gossip Online Columnist Cat Grant, City Reporter Ron Troupe, Crime Reporter Lois Lane and Veteran Editor Perry White.
  • Clark is quickly passed off between writers, as no one wants to train the new geek. The paper is about broke and everyone feels like they’ll be on the street in a year. Lois takes pity on Clark and takes him out on a crime beat.
  • Clark, Lois and Jimmy arrive at the Hypersector Construction Site. A Lexcorp Project designed by Industrial Magnate Lex Luthor to rebuild Metropolis’s Bowery and Ghetto regions. Lois expresses great disdain for Luthor, while Clark seems fascinated by the man.
  • A local aerial team gets ready to do some stunt work over the site when some pyro technics from the festivities below strikes one of the plane’s engines. The plane goes spinning out of control, as the onlookers scream. Lois turns to grab Clark, when she realizes he’s gone.
  • Up in the air. It’s a bird, it’s a plane…It’s SUPERMAN.
  • Jimmy is trying to climb on some raised platforms to get a better shot of Superman, while Lois watches in awe.
  • Superman flies around the plane, blowing out the flames. Eventually, he grips the plane from underneath and lands it in a field near the river.
  • Luthor is embarassed by what has happened. He blames the accident on interference from the flying blur that blew the plane off course. Lois writes up a scathing front page article against Luthor, which causes the Daily Planet to sell copies like never before.
  • Weeks pass as Clark tries to work up the nerve to ask Lois out. She pushes him away, while her father introduces him to Staff Sergeant John Corben. Lois isn’t sure who she likes, as she’s more concerned with her work.
  • Meanwhile in space, a large alien spaceship appears in our Galaxy. Aboard the ship, a green skinned alien watches a thin vapor trail pointing directly towards Earth. Moving above the Earth, the alien scans downwards. When it finds a final warm body signature, the screen flashes KRYPTONIAN.
  • The green skinned alien smiles. He motions for a tall, slender silver robot to approach him. He points at an airlock and commands the robot to enter it. The robot is blown out the airlock, as we watch it fall into Earth’s atmosphere.
  • The alien’s impact makes a crater outside of Metropolis. It emerges from the hole and scans the area for a sign of the Kryptonian. Through it’s POV, we see a trail leading into the city. The robot follows.
  • That night in the city, we see Superman saving people from fires. Stopping speeding vehicles. Stopping robberies. Dropping criminals off at a police station.
  • In the distance, Superman hears Lex Luthor mutter “If you don’t kill Lane, I’ll do it myself”. Like a big stupid Boy Scout, Superman speeds across town to LexCorp Tower. On the top floor, he finds Luthor waiting for him.
  • Superman steps down and slowly approaches Luthor, but stops. Gotcha, says Luthor. Quickly Luthor decks Superman and he falls on his ass. Luthor pulls his fist back to reveal that he’s wearing what amounts to Kryptonite laced brass knuckles.
  • Luthor yells at Superman for embarassing him in his town. Superman/Clark is stunned because this is the first time he can ever remember bleeding.
  • Luthor goes on about how he had his research team study the footage of the planet accident and piece together who Superman was. Montage of footage collected from Clark’s original adventures in Smallville, his time overseas and pictures of a LexCorp team finding pure Kryptonite fragments in Ethiopia.
  • Lex Luthor pulls out a sharpened piece of Kryptonite that he gets ready to lunge like a dagger at Superman’s chest when the Silver Alien Robot lands on the Heli-Pad.
  • Shot from the ROBOT’S POV, as he confirms that he has found the Kryptonian. Luthor drops the Krypto-knife and drops Superman. Superman watches in a daze, as Luthor meets the robot alien and comes to an agreement. Luthor and the Silver Alien return to find Superman stumbling around on the floor. Superman doesn’t understand what the Kryptonite is doing to him, so he looks through his hand with X-Ray vision. His cells are rotting with a seemingly green cancer.
  • Superman turns his attention back to Luthor and the robot. The Robot states that he’s part of the Braniac Hive Mind of Colu. His master Vril Dox demands the final extermination of all Kryptonian life. This is the first cinematic Luthor/Braniac team-up and it will be glorious. Too bad the Braniac robot just blasted Superman off the roof of the LexCorp Tower.

This would roughly be the first 45 minutes of the film. I’ll whip out more notes and details beyond this rough sketch in the future.
