Pablo Trapero is an Argentinian filmmaker of some acclaim his side of the equator. His latest film, Carancho, is a sexy sleazy noir romp through the big bucks world of car accident insurance payouts in Argentina. The story revolves around the love affair between Sosa (Ricardo Darín) a seedy lawyer who tours public hospitals and police stations in search of potential clients, and Luján (Martina Gusman, Trapero’s wife and frequent muse), a young doctor recently arrived in the big city.
The film is Argentina’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards. Yahoo has the trailer for what seems to be a very promising film.
