365 days of Sci-Fi

From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA)
comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so
bad, they’re good” films that inspired them.  Move over Roger Corman,
step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr.
Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here!  Each day, your friends at CHUD will
bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title
Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain
or shine, drunk or sober.   That’s a whole year of the quality concepts
you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and
SHARKTOPUS.

Day 1Day Two

And now… DAY THREE:

I don’t know about you, but I love me some Lucha Libre and am especially fond of the old masked Mexican wrestler pictures (Santo and Blue Demon vs. Dracula & the Wolfman being a particular favorite).  The production value was virtually non-existent, as were the plot lines, which were usually utter nonsense.  In fact, you were just as likely to find the heroes fighting gangsters as you were to see them battling vampires, werewolves, the occasional mummy, or any number of other supernatural beasties.  We’re talking total insanity… which I guess is why I love them so much.  So, in homage to all those masked crusaders of yesteryear keeping us safe from the things going bump in the night, I proudly present to you…

– Andy Cosby

“And you thought only the bad guys wore masks.”

Pitch:
Mexploitation meets grindhouse horror when a Day of the Dead celebration takes a dark turn, forcing former Luchador turned priest, Ramon “The Savage” Sanchez, out of retirement, donning the mask one last time to combat demons both figurative and literal. Embarking on a perilous journey through Mexico’s occult underworld, Ramon searches for the evil Bruja that stole his sister’s soul, desperately hoping to find the witch before she can complete an ancient Aztec ritual designed to bring about the end of the world.  Once again, the forces of evil have Ramon up against the ropes, but with a little luck and a lot of ass-kicking, perhaps this time it will be The Savage who soothes the beast.

Nick Says: Can you imagine the amazing shenanigans that would unfold here? No offense to Machete , but this is the kind of flick that unite humanity into a focused and rapt group of low budget amazingness. The fantastic Emilio Rivera can finally have his franchise. .
