First off, I’m a sucker for good legal thrillers.

Second off, I dig Matthew McConaughey.

Third off, I’m a sucker for interesting all-star casts in mainstream movies.

So, I’m pretty much gravy for a film like The Lincoln Lawyer. The combination of McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Josh Lucas, William H. Macy, Ryan Phillipe, Bryan Cranston, John Leguizamo, Michael Peña, Bob Gunton, Shea Whigham, and the legendary Michael Paré is intoxicating.

Intoxicating I tell you.

The second trailer has hit the world and though I can’t imagine there’ll be any new ground broken, it paints the film as a possibly intriguing bit of drama as it reveals right away that Ryan Phillipe, the suspect the heroes are defending, is a batshit crazy and his crimes may have an innocent man in prison.

Generic? Yes. Indicative of many plots from one of the myriad procedurals on television? Bingo.

But movies like this when they’re executed well, work. Here’s hoping this is one of those.
