I know the argument “I can get it online cheaper”. It’s a delightful argument and one I have heard in response to nearly every cool deal I’ve come across in the real world. Yes, you can often find things cheaper on the web. Sometimes though… good things surface in the world where you can hold them and look at them and there is a value to being able to choose something and walk out the door with it.

Regardless, Barnes & Noble is not the bargain hunter’s place for DVD and Blu-ray except those special times of year where they uncork a “Buy 2, Get One Free” things or something like the sale that began today and runs until the 21st of the month”

You figure, even if they’re at suggested retail price (typically $39.99), twenty bucks for a Criterion (my recent lovefest) doesn’t suck. The great thing about them is that they’ll order what you want and have it all waiting for you. I personally have The Darjeeling Limited, Hausu, Paths of Glory, and Antichrist prepped to pick up on November 9th and Night of the Hunter planned for the 14th.

It’s not for everyone, but for folks who love bookstores and great elite discs for a fair wage, it’s right up your alley.
