Taken was a lot of fun for several reasons, the plot being a minor one. Watching Liam Neeson run around Paris beating up French people and ruining dinner with old friends was the real joy.
Now master filmmaker Simon West want’s to make his own Taken, but he’s calling it Medallion. It’s the story of a man who’s searching for his kidnapped daughter. She’s being driven around town in the trunk of an unmarked cab, and West is setting this in New York so who ever gets the lead role (Clive Owen and Nicholas Cage were talked about) can only pummel New Yorkers. A bummer but not without merits.
The LA Times has the exclusive but there isn’t really much else known about the project yet, other than my favorite restaurant McG is producing. West only recently signed on, so casting should begin soon.
