In an announcement that surprised no one, Treyarch revealed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops will bring back Call of Duty: World at War‘s popular zombie co-op mode. It’s all part of a current trend to stick zombies into every single game that doesn’t make sense with them but to be fair, World at War did it before most, and it was hugely entertaining. As in that title Black Ops will come with a four player co-op mode that
sees you battling zombies and frantically trying to shore up defenses that they stubbornly keep breaking through.

“Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops,” says Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. “We’ve taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our Zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans.”

Besides the zombie mode, the game will also come packed with a new co-op game called “Combat Training” that allows six players to rank up against enemy AI- possibly a new Horde mode?

Call of Duty: Black Ops hits stores on November 9th.
