While rumors and tiny bits of forward progress pop up now and again concerning Tim Burton’s possible future projects –be they Monsterpocalypse, Dark Shadows or the Addams Family— it’s been set for some time that Frankenweenie (a remake of one of his short films) was up next, based on a script from John August (Big Fish, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory). If there was any doubt that this was the case, a voice cast (coming from Deadline) should make it clear.
Looking at the cast, you’ll be surprised whose names you DON’T see…
Winona Ryder – Elsa
Martin Landau – Mr. Rzykruski
Martin Short – Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor’s Dad, Mr. Burgermeister
Catherine O’Hara – Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor’s Mom, Gym Teacher
The film is still quite a ways off with a release date of March 9, 2012, but I imagine Burton’s next project will become solidified well before then, for those of you that are holding your breath waiting to hear it.
