Fox Searchlight has just sent us the poster and trailer for Conviction, their upcoming film which stars Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell as siblings thrust into a horrible situation.
The film tells the true story of Betty Anne Waters, a woman who fought like a beast for her brother for 18 long years to free him from life in prison for a murder he didn’t commit. It takes a special kind of person to spend ten years getting a law degree just so they could save a loved one, but that’s exactly what she did- and as an unemployed single mother, no less.
Check out the trailer below. Really wish it didn’t end with the usual sappy uplifting music (complete with slow-motion headnods!) but hell, it looks like the actors are gettnig to show off their chops nicely with the material. I’m game.
