I think we all need at least one really nice positive thing about the entertainment business every single day of the year, including weekends. Sometimes it may be something simple, like a video that showcases something fun and sometimes it may be a movie poster that embraces the aesthetic we all want Hollywood to aspire to. Sometimes it may be a long-winded diatribe. Sometimes it’ll be from the staff and extended family of CHUD.com. Maybe even you readers can get in on it. So, take this to the bank. Every day, you will get a little bit of positivity from one column a day here. Take it with you. Maybe it’ll help you through a bad day or give folks some fun things to hunt down in their busy celluloid digesting day.

What I’m Thankful For:

Theatrical B-Horror.

It doesn’t matter how appropriately or inappropriately good or bad Piranha 3-D is.It doesn’t matter where the money came to finance it, if the investors were lied to about the prospects or quality of the production or why Elizabeth Shue, Jerry O’Connell, and Richard Dreyfus agreed to be in it. It doesn’t matter what this does for the momentum of Alexandre Aja’s career as a horror director to watch. All that matters is that we have a sex-filled and gore laden (I won’t link to the bootleg footage but it’s out there and amazing, I don’t need the traffic that bad) theatrical 3-D movie about little fish that eat people with absolutely not one single ounce of cynicism. It really does warm the heart because I think a generation has been denied these most simple pleasures. My parents had them. I had them. I don’t think a lot of people entering college right now had them, and it’s nice to see folks giving back, even if it’s in a way that very few are going to understand or appreciate. Though Snakes on a Plane meant well, this is the real deal. And I for one am very, VERY thankful.
