Now that so many of you are diving back into The Secret of Monkey Island (or experiencing it for the first time!) with the remakes of the first two games in the series, it’s time to see what creator Ron Gilbert has planned now. And that is DEATHSPANK, an action rpg that’s been in the works for six years with Hothead Games and will finally see the light of day on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade next week (on July 13th and 14th, respectively.)

Charming. Intelligent. Enigmatic. These are just a few words you won’t be using to describe DeathSpank. He doesn’t stab first and ask questions later. He doesn’t realize there are questions. Created by Ron Gilbert, the legendary mind behind Monkey Island, DeathSpank is the rarest of the rare: an honestly funny, fun video game.

How sad is it that genuinely funny games are so few and far between? We have two new trailers here that focus on that focus on the humor, which certainly won’t be for everyone. Like people who don’t like humor, for example. Or orphans.

First up we have a weapons trailer that demonstrates some of the, er, unique weapons you’ll be using…

There’s also this trailer/developer diary that shows off the co-op Diablo-esque gameplay.

DeathSpank, folks. It’s going to be fun. As for now, try calling 1.866.631.1574 to connect to DeathSpank‘s hotline. It’s absolutely hysterical… try listening to all the options. Also check the FAQs on the official site for more goodness.
