YouTube today announced a film
project titled Life in a Day,
one that needs your help to get off the ground. It will basically be a
documentary made up of multiple submissions, all of them shot on
Saturday, July 24th. Film something and upload it to the site and you
could be a part of it!
Ridley Scott is the producing the
project and Kevin Macdonald (Last King of
Scotland, Touching the Void)
will direct, and the film will screen at Sundance next year. What’s
more- should your footage be chosen you’ll be credited as a co-director,
and 20 of the the contributers will be flown out to Sundance for the
world premiere.
The director Kevin Macdonald says of
the project, “Life in a Day is a time capsule that will
tell future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of
July, 2010. It is a unique experiment in social filmmaking,
and what better way to gather a limitless array of footage than to
engage the world’s online community.”
