Oh, marketing folks. When you’re trying to sell a mindfuck of a film to
American audiences, a closeup
of a genetically engineered creature’s head
isn’t the way to go. Thankfully
these two posters, found on ImpAwards, do a
much better job. The first one is an international poster that likely shows
off too much skin to ever make it over here. The second one is the
domestic one and the composition and tagline makes it look exactly like
an 80s VHS box, and I say that with lots of admiration.

As you probably know by now, Splice
stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as a married pair of genetic
engineers who form the first bioengineered life forms, taking the step
from animals to humans with a creature called Dren. As is usually the
case in most sci-fi horror movies, playing God doesn’t exactly work out
for the couple. It was directed by Vincenzo Natali, best known for Cube.

What
did you think of the
trailer
?
It didn’t seem to get much of a response in theaters, but a ton of
trusted folks have fallen in love with the film, including our very own
Devin Faraci (his
review
).

We’ll
get to meet Dren in just over two weeks.
