That’s because he’s going to be playing the title character in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman for Mandate Pictures and director Dante Ariola (heh, Ariola).  The script was written by Matt Drake and ended up on the unofficial 2007 Black List.  The story centers on the title character who, travels to Budapest after his mother dies of cancer, and he becomes
entwined with a mysterious Hungarian girl named Gabi. Unfortunately,
she’s already involved with a violent crime boss who isn’t prepared to
give her up.

This will be Ariola’s (heh) first film.  The director won the DGA Commercial Director of the Year in 2007.  LaBeouf most recently starred in Transformers: Revenege of the Fallen and will next be seen in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.  He’s next filming Transformers 3.  Matt Drake has also scripted Project X for producer Todd Phillips and Warner Bros.
