Hell House, Jesus Camp, Deliver Us From Evil. All are great docs on various religious figures that should have the side effect of making you incredibly angry. 8: The Mormon Proposition seems to be the latest in this line of religious docs and “piss you off” probably isn’t nearly strong enough- this should make your blood boil. It’s still stunning that California managed to go along with Prop 8 and undo all the good work towards gay rights that the state had made, but of course with the backing of the Mormon Church it was made a lot easier.

8: The Mormon Proposition exposes the Mormon Church’s historic involvement in the promotion and passage of California’s Proposition 8 and the religion’s secretive, decades-long campaign against gay rights.  The film takes place in California and Utah as Mormons, following their prophet’s call to action, wage spiritual warfare with money and misinformation against gay citizens, doing everything they can to deny them of marriage and the rights that come with it.
