AICN, by way of Variety has word that Kevin Dunn and Julie White, collectively known as those wacky Witwickys, have signed on to reprise their roles for Transformers 3.  No big surprise there.  Considering the bank these films have made, regardless of quality, I’m sure even the craft service guys and janitors are selling their souls to get back on board.  Michael Bay is in pre-production with the threequel, and will direct
from a script by Ehren Kruger. Working title is
Transformers 3.  Pic, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, is set to open July 1, 2011. Steven Spielberg is exec producer.

The Witwickys are of course the manic parental units of Shia LeBeouf’s Sam Witwicky, prone to occasional flipping out and pot brownie consumption.  Plot details are still hush hush, but some details of characters to debut in 3 include, according to Wikipedia, that James Avery will voice Silverbolt, an Aerialbot, and another Autobot who will transform into a Ferrari 458 Italia will debut. Frances McDormand and John Malkovich have also joined the cast; and Tony Todd, who voiced The Fallen, is reported to return, although possibly in another role.

I’m just wondering if Bay and company can outdo themselves on Skids and Mudflap, though.  Maybe Metroplex will show up as an ill-advised Latino neighborhood or something.

Wonder if Unicron will be an Anti-Semitic moon on the message boards.
