Sony is really looking to stack the deck (get it? Get it? STACK?) when it comes to the The Smurfs movie. Sure, most grown up males wouldn’t want to go see this movie… until they get a load of Sofia Vergara in 3D. The star of ABC’s very funny Modern Family has signed on to the film to play a character that sounds like it could be a touch villainous. According to Heat Vision she’s playing ‘a powerful executive at a high-end French cosmetics company who is the boss of the live-action character played by Neil Patrick Harris.’ Does this mean we could be getting a subplot where cosmetics are tested on Smurfs? That, more than hotties in 3D, would get me in the door.
Vergara is a Colombian model who has made a number of crummy movies and appeared in some crummy TV shows. Modern Family has given her a chance to not only show a new level of talent but also to canoodle with Ed O’Neil.
