Some Smurfs news coming in from a couple of sources today as EW.com reports that Hank Azaria has been cast as Gargamel in the upcoming adaptation, while Katy Perry Will be voicing Smurfette.  And from THR.com, word has arrived that Glee’s Jayma Mays will be portraying a female non-Smurf (i.e. human).  Azaria is well known for his voice work on The Simpsons (Moe, Apu, Chief Wiggum), barely avoiding getting stomped by Godzilla, but not avoiding the same from Helen Hunt.

Pop
star Katy Perry will be making her film debut as the lone female Smurf,
while Mays will be portraying the pregnant wife of Neil Patrick Harris,
who was previously cast.  Azaria has Happy Feet 2 in 3D and Love and Other Drugs upcoming.  Casting for other roles is currently progressing.
