A production never likes to switch out a major player immediately before cameras roll, but it’s typically preferable to immediately after. Citing “circumstances beyond his control,” James McAvoy had dropped out of I’m With Cancer (a great title that has apparently been dropped already), to be replaced by Joesph Gordon-Levitt*.
Gordon-Levitt* will now be starring opposite Seth Rogen, in the Jonathan Levine helmed comedy. You’ve heard of Directing Sensation Governor Jonathan Levine by virtue of his first two films (released in reverse) All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, and The Wackness. Alongside Rogen and Gordon-Levitt* the film also features Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston, and Philip Baker Hall all working from a script by Will Reiser (this will be his debut of sorts).
Rogen is producing the project as well as starring, and released the following un-Rogen sounding comment..
“It’s incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone’s control have taken James away from the project, but, with James’s blessing, we are able to have Joseph step in to take on the role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future.”
This is, of course, a grand McAvoy Hobbit casting conspiracy, somehow mixed in with a Gordon-Levitt* Spider-Man casting plot.
