Bethesda Softworks has officially announced that Fallout: New Vegas is on its way. The followup to Fallout 3, this one’s developed by Obsidian Entertainment (Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2) for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

They’ve got a teaser to go along with that nifty logo, and it’s just what you’d expect. Fallout trailers. Fallout trailers never change.

Experience all the sights and sounds of fabulous New Vegas, brought to you by Vault-Tec, America’s First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation. Explore the treacherous wastes of the Great Southwest from the safety and comfort of your very own vault: Meet new people, confront terrifying creatures, and arm yourself with the latest high-tech weaponry as you make a name for yourself on a thrilling new journey across the Mojave wasteland. A word of warning, however – while Vault-Tec engineers have prepared for every contingency,* in Vegas, fortunes can change in an instant. Enjoy your stay.

Fallout: New Vegas hits this Fall, 2010. While you can consider this more of a side-story than a full sequel (Bethesda’s reportedly working on their own in-house Fallout 4) Obsidian definitlely know what they’re doing, and exploring New Vegas should be a blast. Expect much more on the followup to the best game of 2008 as we hear it.
