A few weeks ago I was amused to find out that my old Newgrounds account was still active, after over a decade. Tom Fulp, creator of the site, always had something special on his hands, and it hit at just the right time for kids looking to get out their aggression in flash form. Oh, those assassination games, and Pico!

Tom Fulp has of course moved on into game design with The Behemoth, with his programming skills finding the perfect match with co-founder Dan Paladin’s unique art style. Their first project was to transform their awesome Metal Slug-styled shooter Alien Hominid to consoles, and it was such a success on the 360 that Castle Crashers soon followed. The latter is one of the more addictive games you’re likely to find on Xbox Live Arcade, a hack and slash rpg that’s a helluva lot deeper than it appears. This is why their third project has been so anticipated. Without further ado, bear witness to BATTLEBLOCK THEATER.

Having shipwrecked on a mysterious island you find yourself both betrayed by your best friend Hatty and captured by the locals. All of this is happening while being forced into deadly performances. This however, is just the start of your problems.

It’s another platformer, but one that seems focused on competitive co-op gameplay, if you can call it that. Expect much more info on the title in the upcoming weeks, and we’ll let you know when we hear more about a release date!
