It’s an announcement we’ve been waiting to hear for a couple of months, and it has finally happened at the premiere of Avatar yesterday- Bryan Singer has announced he is returning to the X-Men franchise he started, refined, and then abandoned for bluer tights.

“I’m prepping up to do a movie called Jack the Giant Killer [for] Warner Brothers, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an X-Men, First Class Origins picture, which is kind of cool…”

There’s obviously not a ton of info at this point, but Singer does specify that this is the oft-mentioned in-development X-Men Origins: First Class that will feature the younger, original X-Men team (before amnesiac Wolverine joined). You can see the announcement for yourself in the video below (thanks to swissarmadillo for tagging the appropriate point).

Oh, and kudos to Flickchart for getting this up on their Twitter stream so quickly.

“It’s not like writing or painting, it’s a collaboration, so find a good MESSAGE BOARD.”
